  • Kyoto Saito Eikun   -  Traditional wooden "MASU" cup This unique “Masu” sake cup is handcrafted from Japanese Cypress wood. Masu cups were originally used as measuring cups for rice in Japan’s Edo Period, but they later became a popular sake cup for celebratory gatherings. The word “Masu” has two meanings in Japanese: the name of this cup and the verb, “to increase”. This play on words represents a host’s overflowing generosity and his or her guests’ ever-increasing happiness and appreciation.  The cups shown in the photos above carry the logo of “Eikun'', a sake from Saito Shuzo brewery in Kyoto, Japan. Personalized designs are also available. Please contact us for more details!
  • Kyoto Saito Eikun   -  Traditional sake cup This pottery sake cup is named after the blue double-circle design inside the cup, which is affectionately dubbed “Janome'', or “Snake’s Eye” in Japanese. Cups with Janome designs are highly recommended for use in sake tasting sessions. The pure white base allows tasters to observe the colour and viscosity of the sake, while the blue pattern reveals the sake’s clarity and brilliance under illumination.  This sake cup carries the logo of “Eikun”, a sake from Saito Shuzo brewery in Kyoto, Japan.

  • Kyoto Saito Eikun   -  Traditional sake tumbler This simple and elegant tall glass carries the logo of “Eikun'', a sake from Saito Shuzo brewery in Kyoto, Japan. This clear glass is great for showcasing the colour of sake and is perfect for serving sake at home. It can also be combined with a wooden Masu cup to create a distinctly Japanese presentation.
  • Kyoto Saito Eikun   -  Traditional sake cup This elevated glass sake cup is traditionally known as a “Bajohai” - a name meaning “on horseback”. It is said that this type of sake cup originates from the roaming peoples in Mongolia, who used it to drink wine while riding horses. In feudal Japan, samurai warlords also used Bajohai to enjoy sake while riding horse. The cup’s elongated glass base is easy to grip, and the body is carefully molded into a shape that prevents sake from spilling easily.  This sake cup carries the logo of “Eikun”, a sake from Saito Shuzo brewery in Kyoto, Japan.
